EARTH | MOON | STARS
“We are travelers on a cosmic journey, stardust, swirling and dancing in the eddies and whirlpools of infinity. Life is eternal. We have stopped for a moment to encounter each other, to meet, to love, to share. This is a precious moment. It is a little parenthesis in eternity. “ -Paulo Coelho
We are a reflection of the heavens and its beautiful interlocking complexity. I am fascinated by what we know and yet humbled by what we do not know. There is still so much to learn. Astrology can often provide insight about oneself and others. This series was inspired by many things: the stars, color, line, energy, and rhythm. Each piece holds moments of thought for who have supported me, taught me lessons, shared their love and inspired me along my journey in this life.
Solitary and unwavering, the moon is a bare, spherical chunk of rock that has circled the earth for millions of years. Its symbolic magnificence is often taken for granted. She conceals her existence revealing her dark side during the new moon phase and essentially obliterates the light of the stars during her full moon phase. Our daily activities are subject to the natural rhythms, different phases and various positions of the moon. I created this series to remind me that while time is always changing, one thing holds constant. When things feel out of whack, one can rely on the Universe to bring it back together. If wewait for the phase to end, essentially we can begin anew. Just ebb and flow.
Fascinated and intrigued by aerial perspectives of earth, this point of view often feels familiar evoking a sense of comfort and peace within me. When I travel by plane, there is only one seat to be in; it is the window seat. I’m captivated by the organic shapes and lines created from roadways, land formations, water and islands. The various shades of blue and green created by the depths of the sea represent the depth seen in life and human existence. I often have dreams that I’m flying or floating and, although I am terrified of heights, it is a very calming feeling. I look to convey that sense of aerial perspective within this series.
